“Oh no, there goes the power again!”
Our whole family said that almost at once when it happened. It was in the early hours of Saturday morning and we were about to say good night and head for bed. We had had a wonderful evening and were feeling relaxed and peaceful. But now everything changed and we were plunged into darkness.
Well, I had previously learned about the power of praise, and things seemed to change quickly when I began to use that. Strangely enough, when the Lord challenged me to praise Him, it was also related to a power out. When I did so, we seemed to have a miraculous answer and the power was restored very fast. So, I decided to do that again.
I praised Him, put the matter into His hands, and thanked Him for sorting things out quickly for us. But this time it seemed that the praise was not working. We waited for almost five days before we finally had our power re-established.
I continued to keep my faith in the field. I had reached out my hand of faith to the Lord and I knew that I had received the answer. But why was it taking so long to manifest? I also used the power of hope. I ‘saw’ the power coming on and called the things that were not as though they were (Romans 4:17). This time, however, I began to wonder if the Lord had disappeared and was not even listening to me.
Of course, Satan was trying to lie to me to make me think that the answer would not come. But when you realize that he is a liar, you can ignore his tactics and keep going with the Lord. He wants to wear you down and get you discouraged, and he almost succeeded to accomplish this. But the Lord was greater, and He encouraged me to keep going. Soon the answer came unexpectedly, and quite miraculously.
What was happening here? My faith muscles were being flexed so that my faith would grow. I haven’t done much weight-lifting, but I believe when a weight-lifter lifts an extra heavy weight, they feel like nothing is changing and it didn’t do them any good. But what is really happening is their muscle is growing and getting stronger, even if they don’t see it.
This is all that the Lord was doing with all of us. He was getting us to flex our spiritual muscles so that we could grow. We didn’t see it at the time, but it ended up in blessing and Satan couldn’t win.
Where Are You At?
So, I want to ask you now, are you in a situation where it feels like that same thing is happening to you? It seems like nothing is happening and you are at a dead end. May you be encouraged to keep going, like the tortoise in Aesop’s fable about the tortoise and the hare. You might think you are getting nowhere, but the finish line is up ahead and soon you will see the victory.
Just make sure that you have done these three things. You have reached out your hand of faith and received the answer from the Lord. You have kept up your hope by confessing that the answer is coming and will manifest any day now. And you have walked in love to others.
If you have done these, then tell Satan to take a hike because you are not going to listen to him. Then fix your eyes on the Lord Jesus, and let Him encourage you. Do not lose hope. Keep on going, and soon you will see the answer becoming a reality.
My Prayer for You
“I lift you up to the Lord now, and I speak blessing on you. Thank you, Lord, that this person is very special to You, and You want the very best for them. Thank you that as they keep their eyes fixed on You, You will help them to always succeed and get the victory.
Satan, you cannot win because you are a liar. I command you to shut your mouth now and to be removed! I release the angels now to move on your behalf and to speed things up.”
Thank you for doing this, Lord. Amen.”
