The Blessing of Giving
2 Corinthians 9:10 says,
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. (GBMV)
I have a lot of Scripture promises that I have accumulated over the years, and the above Scripture is one of my promises about finances and provision. I rotate those Scriptures, and daily speak out promises concerning health and provision, and recently this was one of those that came up.
As I spoke this promise out, I was amazed at how powerful and special it is. I had never seen some of the things in that promise before, but it gave me a boost of faith and I want to share what I saw in it with you.
The first thing I saw is that the Lord supplies seed to the sower. That in itself if a huge blessing. It means you don’t have to go out and try to find the provision. If you want to give to someone in need and be a blessing, you may not have much of anything to fulfill that desire with. But the Lord can cause seed (provision) to come your way, so that you can be the blessing you desire to be.
And then not only that, but according to this promise He will ‘supply and multiply’ what you have sown, so that you receive blessing back in far greater measure. You might only have a couple of dollars, pounds, rands, or whatever your currency is to give. But when you have sown it, you can stand on this promise from Luke 6:38 which says,
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
The most important thing in your giving is to sow it in faith, hope and love. If you are doing it out of obligation, or to twist the arm of the Lord, rather don’t do it because it will not benefit you.
You need to ask the Lord to put that provision into your spiritual bank account in faith, hope and love. It is like when you deposit money into your natural bank account. Then, according to the parable of the sower, you will receive 30, 60, or 100 times as much.
Even if it starts out slowly, continue to sow in love because you will reap a harvest, and that harvest will increase. The Lord will bring provision into your hands, so that you can continue being a blessing, and He can reward you in abundance from any source possible. Let me pray for you now.
My Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I lift up Your child now and I speak blessing on them. Thank you that as they desire to be a blessing and give to others, You will cause provision to come their way, and give them the ability to do this.
I praise you that You desire to bless us in abundance. Thank you for multiplying what we have sown and pouring that blessing back on us. This is the promise of your Word now, Lord, and I stand on it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
May you walk in blessing and favor this day, and see the hand of the Lord working amazing things in your life.
