The Power of Command

I don’t know about you, but I just love the Lord Jesus and the life of victory that we as believers are supposed to be walking in. But sometimes things can change drastically, and you can end up frustrated and walking in defeat.

What is happening here? It can simply be the enemy messing with you, and trying to make you fail and walk in the flesh. But even when he tries, you can overcome him if you are aware of what is happening.

Let me share a story of what happened to me. Today, when I woke up, it was a beautiful, warm clear day. When I saw that, I decided to put on some urgent laundry that I needed to do.

As I waited for the machine to run its course, I headed for my ‘happy place’ with the Lord Jesus. That place is outside in the sunshine whenever I can do it, just talking to Him and loving Him.

Well, I had not been there for long, when the wind began to pick up and the clouds began to cover the sky. Before I knew it, there were dark clouds on the horizon and everything looked gloomy. I wondered how it was possible for that to happen so fast.

My washing finished, and I went to hang it up. I thought it would still be okay because it was warm and fairly windy. I thought I could at least leave it for an hour before it was likely to rain and give it a headstart to dry.

But it was like Satan was messing with me. About 3 minutes after I had hung everything up, it started to rain already. Wow, if the weather was a person, I would have seriously wanted to kill them. I was livid!. So, I had to repeat the process and take everything down again.

Once I was back inside, I thought about how Jesus had rebuked the winds and the waves when he was in a storm on the boat with His disciples. The Bible says that what He did, we can do as well. So, I looked through the window, pointed my finger at the stormclouds and said,

“In the name of Jesus, I command this rain to cease and these thick clouds to clear!”

I got busy with some other things, and after about 20 minutes I suddenly realized that the room was getting brighter. I looked outside, and was shocked to see that the clouds had obeyed me. The rain had stopped, and the thick clouds began to thin out, until there was blue sky once again and the sun was shining.

I just praised the Lord after this I saw this, and realized that when you use the authority that He gave you, you can really change your circumstances. How can this happen? Because Jesus gave you authority to rule and reign in this life, like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.

Yes, they did not experience the effects of the curse until they sinned and fell in the Garden. We now have an enemy that they gave a license to, to operate in the earth. But we can overcome him through the Lord Jesus and what He did on Calvary.

So, here is what I learned today through this experience. You can do what Jesus did, and command the weather to change, or any circumstance in your life that is not a blessing.

The Lord wants you to be blessed, and that includes all areas of your life. Satan is the one who wants to mess with you, like a bully who constantly tries to destroy a person’s life. But do not allow him that luxury. If something threatens to be destructive or brings signs of a curse, you do not need to accept it. Stand and use your authority in Jesus’ name. Push it back and say,

“Oh no you don’t. This is not acceptable!”

Yes, Satan will still challenge you to make you think you are a failure. But keep going and saying how things must be. He will eventually get the message, bow his knee and retreat.

Maybe your life has not been flowing in blessing the way the Lord intended. If so, I pray that you will take what I shared here, and begin to command the enemy to bow and the blessing to come.

Many blessings to you.
